Home for a week and am in the midst of reading a plethora, a colossus, a veritable flood of contest entries. Not quite as many as we’d like, mind you, but still …lots of reading.
And so, I pause in my reading a moment to give a garden update. You may recall that I posted the story of planting my new garden HERE. It’s turned out to be an interesting horticultural experience. We have benefitted from tremendous bounty, yes, but there have also been Lessons Learned.
Edamame beans do not like growing at my house. Or, at least in a pot with bell peppers, anyway. One tomato plant grew taller than a tree in an effort to seek out sunshine when I planted it in a sun-limited spot. And somehow, my rhubarb, who was happily, massively growing before I left for Scotland, has taken offense to life in my garden and hightailed it out of here entirely. He even patted down the soil after he left, leaving no trace he was ever there to begin with.
A mystery for the ages.
Anyway, the many fine salads I have been eating lately have given me the gardening bug good and proper. Prepare for more foliage in the future.
And now, break’s over. Back to reading!
More soon…
